Email in Trello
Trello is a great tool to organise and manage everything. We explore how powerful it can be when working in close collaboration with your email.
Find out all you need to know about email in Trello below.
1. Create a Trello card by sending or forwarding an email
2. Let customers email directly to your Trello board
3. Reply to emails from within Trello
Trello has a built-in feature to let you create cards by sending emails to a special email address they provide. SendBoard is a Trello Power-Up that lets you reply to emails from within Trello. Your team can then use Trello as an email client, receiving and replying to emails from customers without leaving Trello.
1. Create a Trello card by sending or forwarding an email
Trello lets you create new cards on a board by writing or forwarding an email to a special Trello email address. Every Trello board has a dedicated email address for each member of the board. If you send an email to that address, a new card will automatically be created in Trello. The title of the card will match the email subject, the email content will be added as a description and any attachments will be attached to the card.
Under the board settings, you can find your unique email address for the board. You can also change which list new emails should be added to.
2. Let customers email directly to your Trello board
Trello recommends that you do not share your unique board email address with anyone, as any emails will be added under your personal Trello profile. If you want other people to be able to create cards on a board, you can use a Trello Power-Up called SendBoard.
SendBoard lets you have a public email address that anyone can use to create new cards on a board. Because it is a public email address, you can edit the forwarding settings of your own email address (e.g. help@yourcompany.com) so that any emails sent to that address are created as new cards in Trello.
3. Reply to emails from within Trello
SendBoard for Trello also lets you reply to emails without leaving Trello. So if you open up a card that was created from a customer email, you can view the full email and reply - right from within Trello.
So for shared email addresses like like accounts@, sales@ and support@, your team can deal with all email requests in Trello - no need for shared email logins or complicated help desk solutions.
