A guide to Trello’s pricing structure

Find the perfect Trello plan for your business with our guide to Trello’s plans and pricing structure.

Trello is a great project management tool for teams of any size looking to work together more effectively! Its Kanban-style board organization, customization options and automation features make it flexible and adaptable to all kinds of businesses.

In this article, we take a look at the key features of each Trello plan, so that you can decide which is best for your business.

Trello plans and pricing

Trello’s pricing structure is built on one basic free plan, with three further paid tiers including additional features. All paid plans are charged per user per month. As an example, if a team has five users on Trello Standard, it will cost $25 per month (5 users x $5 = $25).

Trello Free

The free-forever plan is Trello’s entry-level product offering. But as far as freebies go, Trello’s free plan is pretty powerful, so that’s great news if it covers all your team’s needs!

The key features on Trello’s free plan include:

  • Unlimited cards, activity logs and Power-Ups

  • Access to built-in Trello automation (limited to 250 commands per month)

  • Support for Trello web, desktop and mobile

Previously, Trello limited the number of Power-Ups you could activate on a Free plan (a Power-Up is a Trello integration to add extra functionality to your board). But in 2021, the Free plan got a major overhaul to include unlimited Power-Ups. Access to more Power-Ups is probably one of the biggest reasons you might have upgraded before, so this was game-changer.

This means that the Email for Trello Power-Up can be used across your boards without limitation. Plus, there are tons of other apps and integrations to choose from to level-up your Trello workflow and keep your team on track.

What happened to Trello Gold? Trello Gold was a plan for individual users that included a handful of useful features like custom backgrounds and stickers, more board storage, and bonus Power-Ups. With the introduction of limitless Power-Ups in 2021, Trello Gold was discontinued.

Trello Standard

At $5 per month, Trello Standard is the same price as the old Trello Gold (discontinued in 2021) – but you are billed per user. So keep that in mind depending on your team size!

The key features on Trello’s Standard plan include:

  • Advanced checklists (add due dates to individual checklist items)

  • Custom Fields

  • Access to built-in Trello automation (limited to 1,000 commands per month)

It’s important to note here that Custom Fields used to be a Power-Up, but it has been a built-in Trello feature since 2021. Luckily, if you previously enabled the Custom Fields Power-Up, you will continue to have access to custom field options in your free workspace. But if you’re new to the Free plan, you’ll need to consider upgrading to Standard in order to access Custom Fields.

Trello Premium

Trello Premium (previously Business Class) costs $10 per month and adds the following key features:

  • Workspace views (Dashboard, Timeline, Table, Calendar and Map)

  • Access to built-in Trello automation (unlimited commands)

The ability to run unlimited automation commands is particularly handy if your team relies heavily on automation to send emails, set reminders and organize your workflow – no more worrying about whether you’re reaching your command quota!

Plus, with access to Trello’s Dashboard, Timeline, Table, Calendar and Map views, you can view your workflow in different ways. Check out our article about the Timeline and Calendar views to see how this upgrade might help you coordinate your workflow.

Trello Enterprise

The Trello Enterprise plan is aimed at large organizations that need an additional layer of security and control when connecting across multiple teams. You get everything in Trello Premium, plus additional control features such as:

  • Organization-wide permissions

  • Public board management

  • Multi-board guests

Trello Enterprise is also billed per user per month, but the cost per user decreases as the number of users increases. As a guide, the estimated cost per month for 50 users is $17.50. If you think Trello Enterprise is for you, contact Trello sales to learn more.

Trello for non-profits

Trello offers a 75% discount on their pricing plans for non profit organizations that are non-governmental, non-commercial and non-political. In addition to 75% off your chosen Trello pricing plan, Atlassian also offers free, self-managed Data Center licensing.

Whether you’re a fundraiser, impact organization or community volunteer group, Trello can help your non profit effectively plan and deliver projects with features like:

  • Custom Fields to capture data specific to your team (Trello Standard)

  • Workspace views so that you can see your tasks and priorities at a glance (Trello Premium)

  • Organization-wide permissions for secure collaboration (Trello Enterprise)

If you think your organization qualifies for Trello non profit pricing, you can submit an Atlassian Community License request.
