New Trello feature: Mirror cards across boards

Trello has just introduced a new feature: card mirroring. Let’s take a look at how to use it to streamline teamwork across boards in your Trello workspace.

Imagine the ease of syncing tasks across teams in Trello – without the chaos of copy-pasting updates manually. Trello’s new card mirror feature makes this possible!

Whether you’re a manager juggling to-dos across multiple teams, or a team lead who wants to keep everyone on the same page, card mirroring is a great tool to try for smoother collaboration in Trello.

In this article, we take a closer look at what card mirroring is, how it works, and how to use it on your Trello boards.

What is Trello card mirroring?

Card mirroring lets you sync updates on a card across multiple Trello boards. This means that you can:

  • Track updates in real-time. Card mirroring makes sure that any update (like a deadline change, new comment or checklist task being completed) is instantly reflected across all versions of the card. No more worrying if team members are working with outdated information!

  • Reduce manual task management. Instead of duplicating tasks across boards, or sending updates manually, card mirroring automates the process so that you can focus on doing the work rather than managing it.

  • Manage cross-functional teams more effectively. Keeping everyone aligned, especially across multiple Trello boards, can be tricky. Card mirroring bridges that gap, allowing teams to stay connected while still working independently.

Why mirror cards in Trello?

Using multiple Trello boards for different business functions helps your teams focus on their tasks – while still staying connected through mirrored cards.

  • Help desk. The support team can note down feature requests and mirror that card to the product development team, so that customer feedback can be considered when planning new updates.

  • Sales and CRM. The sales team can keep a deals summary card and mirror it to the accounts team so that everyone stays up to date with the latest sales figures.

  • Project management. Project managers can use card mirroring across different project boards to make sure everyone has access to the most up-to-date details, eliminating the need for constant check-ins.

Paired with a tool like the Email for Trello Power-Up, you can simplify your email communication and managed shared workflows easily, without ever leaving Trello.

With the Power-Up installed, all incoming emails lands as new cards on your Trello board. This makes it possible to mirror email cards across your workspace, so that teams working on different boards can see ongoing conversations.
