Forward emails from in Trello (with attachments)

Sometimes you might receive an email in Trello that you need to forward on to someone else. Rather than start a new card, and copy/paste content, we thought we’d make this super simple by adding a “Forward” button.

When you open up the conversation view on a SendBoard card, you’ll notice a new “Forward” button alongside each message in the thread. Clicking this button does a few things.

  1. Scrolls up and focuses your attention on the email editor

  2. Sets the Subject to “FWD ...”

  3. Clears the recipients so that you can select who to include

  4. Automatically attaches any files that were attached to the original email

This works a lot like normal email clients such as Gmail or Outlook. If you don’t want to include attachments, simply delete them before you send the email off.

Multiple email threads

This new feature is super useful if you want to have multiple conversations on one Trello card. After forwarding the email to a new recipient, you can continue to have separate discussions with the different recipients on the card. SendBoard will be smart about how the thread is handled. i.e. When you reply from within Trello, only the relevant messages from the email history will be included.

Here’s a quick demo of how it works:

In this quick demo, Mark forwards an email from Jane through to Bob. Conversations with Jane and Bob can be tracked on the same card.

Who can use this?

The “Forward” button is available now on all SendBoard plans.

Note that you’ll only see the new buttons if you are viewing the conversation thread. If you have already selected “Reply”, you’ll need to click “Cancel” before you can forward an older message.

Also make sure that you have the following “Message History” option selected. Although this is the default option, older accounts may be set up differently.

You can change this under Settings>Mailbox>Advanced Settings.

We hope that being able to forward emails in Trello will help you to save time and provide a better email experience to your contacts!
